What is VRI?

Video remote interpreting (VRI) is a highly effective vehicle that allows the Deaf or Hard of Hearing population to communicate with a hearing person at the same site via videoconferencing instead of live, on-site interpreting. VRI is convenient for those who cannot meet face-to-face but also is now the preferred method for social-distance communications. VRI also allows all parties to communicate from multiple locations ensuring everyone?s health and safety.

Why Use VRI?

VRI is especially useful in three primary situations:

• This method of communication allows for safe social distancing communications.
• VRI is used when there is a lack of available certified interpreters, such as at a rural location.
• When an interpreter is needed immediately and there is no available interpreter on-site.

Financial Information

Fees for interpreter services are based on recommendations set by the Texas Department of Rehabilitative Services and can vary depending on time of day, advance notice, and length of the assignment.

Nightingale accepts checks, major credit cards, as well as P.O. numbers.
